I want to try animating a scene from Twin Souls. How accurate are the depictions of Mizar and Alcor in Twin Souls in comparison to the real deal (Dipper and Mabel)? Would Mizar’s actress/depiction be less accurate than Alcor’s since he is more widely known and interacted with than she is? Would Alcor’s actor/representation be less accurate and more “Twilight Vampirey”, like by having vampire fangs instead of shark-like teeth? And how about accuracy regarding each of their respective clothes?

Dipper, as Alcor, does have a known general appearance, but it’s extremely likely that any creative work using him as “inspiration” for a character will change features however they see fit for the style or purpose of the design. As for Mizar, descriptions likely vary, especially as time goes on. Maybe the design team just so happens to hit upon “short with long brown hair” by pure chance, using the reasoning that making her petite makes her cuter and for the “I’m so plain with my brown hair but everybody thinks I’m pretty anyhow” trope.

Or maybe they do something completely different.

Basically, do whatever you think would look good to a romantic anime/cartoon/film production team. The characters are there to be super pretty, not really to be accurate.

On pentagrams

The pentagram is an old symbol   and has been used by vatious cultures , the thing you should  know  though is  that  a pentagram    with it’s tip   at the  top is  actually  a good  sign and  has been  asosiated with good luck and partly with religion too  as the tip goes “   heavenwards .

A pentagram with   a split   at the top    is basicly  the opposite thing .  It has been used by  cults and especially satanism  .  The   the  split is then seen as if it was the hirn of a goat  that   won’t let  her horns show heaven wards .

If we  now look at   alcors sign , this can cause some  questions to come up .   Doesn’t the upper one   have  the tip  at the  top ?    Doesn’t that one  represent  alcor ?   What about the smaller   one ?  Why is  mizars  star   the  ” bad “version ?   Is she after all  a demon  manipulating alcor ?

Please oh  great mods , tell me how this translates into the TAU

Actually, the pentagram is even more layered and complex than this alone.

For starters, the five points of the pentagram call up aspects of numerology. Five is the number of harmony, of the union of opposites (being comprised of “feminine” 2 and “masculine” 3), and is the number of humankind because of five extremities of the human body, and of the five elements (the four you probably know of, plus psyche or ether). It is a symbol of power, and, like any closed shape drawn without lifting the pen from the page, of protection.

As a symbol it is indeed rather ubiquitous, as you said, but the sinister reputation of the reversed pentagram is actually a rather recent invention. Traditionally, the orientation of the star has absolutely no bearing upon what it stands for. An “upright” pentagram means the same thing as a pentagram mirrored horizontally. The symbol is meant to be like the circle – no beginning and no end, and no one true “top” or “bottom.” After all, any one point could easily be the “head” of the star – they are all equal in that regard.

As for Alcor’s version, the stars are turned as they are to face each other, and because it’s a visually pleasing design. There was no concept of “good” and “evil” put into them – they are, quite simply, twin stars, one large and one small, both symbols of power and protection. The real puzzle, if you want to call it that, is that Alcor is depicted as the large star and Mizar the small one when in reality Mizar is the larger, more easily visible star, and Alcor is the small, faint “forgotten one.” But even that works if you think metaphorically – that Alcor, as the immortal demon, shelters and protects the Mizars, as humans. It all depends on how you look at it.

           He
woke from the fuzzy nightmare, half-aware of the way it had cut out halfway
through, sticking to his subconscious before being sucked away. Usually, he
fell back asleep after the sensation, but this time he peered up at Alcor with
sleep-narrowed eyes.

           Alcor’s
face, shadowed and lit blue by Bentley’s small collection of glowing figurines
clustered on a small table by his bed, was slack in surprise. Bentley couldn’t
help but notice the bags under the other’s eyes, despite the fact that his dad
had started giving Alcor small snacks in exchange for eating Bentley’s
nightmares (the thought still made him cringe, still made him think of nothing
and the question of existence and Philosophy would never, ever be a good
subject for him).

           “That
taste was…different,” Alcor said. He floated upright so that he wasn’t hanging
over Bentley’s body in such a creepy way. Bentley sat up, rubbed his eyes, and
then looked over at the clock: 4:58. Well, at least it was Saturday.
           Bentley grunted. Even though
Alcor had been helpful to the point of hurting himself, Bentley still wasn’t
sure. He was around less, and he was more subdued than he had been in the past,
but that didn’t mean that Bentley could unsee the demon behind Alcor.

           “…What
was it about?” Alcor asked. He’d never asked before; Bentley thought that
somehow he’d just known. He began to wonder if maybe Alcor had been afraid to
ask.

           No.
That couldn’t be it. Alcor had to have known.
