they’re super dangerous bc they literally devour life from everything (more sapience = more potent, meaning flora is weak, fauna is ok, humans are A+) and are heckin powerful, though humanity knows they’ve had to rely on them to survive in the past (at least, thats what the stories say)
so they’re revered mostly out of fear (same with the shepherd), because of course part of the crucial knowledge of seraphim lost to humans includes the fact that life force is replenishable like blood and seraphim are still pretty benevolent
¯_(ツ)_/¯
(Sorey is consistently bad as remembering other ppl don’t know the truth about seraphim which causes Problems)
more incredibly self-indulgent mikayuu AU
(where Mika and Yuu grow up in a post-war modern setting where vampire and human relations are strained at best, so their friendship is frowned upon. on the 100 year anniversary of a peaceful truce, the vampires initiate a coup that once again overtakes the human race)
How many Transdimensional arc AUs do we have now? There’s the original, then there’s the versions where Toby comes along, plus a handful of other transdimensional suggestions here and there…
Ah, what’s one more? As long as it’s an AU of the arc instead of adding more dimension hopping to the standard storyline I think we’re good…
i was thinking about ageswap/roleswap aus and while i love seeing mob as a well put-together adult, i dont think its realistic to have him that way before having a proper good influence guide him and help him with his powers. so here we have a hikikomori mob thats locked himself up when he was 15 and never really came out until he had to deal with this weird judgemental teen’s bullshit. crazy and dumb shenanigans ensue. maybe character development, and friendship too.
If an AU-AU (god it’s still surreal how meta this fandom has gotten) is deemed close enough to a few core concepts, we allow posts of it on the blog through asks/reblogs/submissions. It gets its own tag, and it get put in the nice little “AU” section of the summary page!
If an AU is deemed to stray too far from those core concepts, the content will not be posted on this blog in any way. This is only because this is supposed to be a collection of canon TAU stuff, not because we don’t like it!
If an AU isn’t fit to be highlighted on this blog specifically, people are still very much welcome to post it in the tag, make offshoot blogs, etc. We won’t police what happens outside of our blog. 🙂
The only thing we ask for is if you make a blog, to state somewhere that it’s an AU of Transcendence AU, and link to our blog somewhere. This is more about clarity than anything else, but the little bit of credit is also nice for those of us who worked hard on this concept.
Mika is best vampire mother hen mom (yes Yoichi is standing on one of his feet). Kimizuki takes a considerably longer time warming up to him tho.
Details about noble!AU under the cut!
Set
in Sanguinem, Mika is instead a noble (proginator) that has never been
human. Despite this, he still harbors and unnatural sympathy for the
children being held as livestock; he may resent the human race as a
whole as the rest of his kind does, but to him, he sees no reason for
innocent humans to be punished for the sins of their species.
He
knows very well that he’s a black sheep in that regard, so he keeps
this a secret. It’s fairly easy to simply use the excuse that he’s not
one for getting his hands dirty, as many nobles have that attitude.
However, he’s not exactly flawless in his execution – made evident when
he runs into a 12-year-old Yuuchiro Hyakuya during a night patrol.
The
vampires are downright ruthless in keeping the strict guidelines for
humans to follow, wanting to leave no room for deviation. As such, any
human caught wandering out past curfew is a free meal. This not only
keeps the vampires vigilant for a chance to drink directly from the
source, but also from letting the humans get any sort of crazy ideas
that they have a chance of defying their shepards.
Yuu is
certain he’s staring death in the face when Mikaela restrains him and
covers his mouth – but is stunned beyond reason when all the noble does
is whisper to him the exact steps he needs to take to get back to the
sleeping quarters without crossing the patrol route for that night, but
is punctuated with the threat of death if he’s caught again. Too
terrified to ask questions, Yuu hurries off and prays the noble doesn’t
give chase.
Upon living through the ordeal, Yuu spends the
following days questioning why any vampire would even give him the
chance of escape (though he still questions if there was a halfhearted,
failed attempt to recapture him that night). Perhaps the noble he ran
into was one he had a chance to reason with? He’d heard rumors of a few
individuals getting on a vampire’s good side just enough to trade fresh
blood for things like warmer blankets and tastier food, though simply
talking to a vampire was a downright lethal risk.
So Yuu
decides to find this noble again, and observe him from a distance. Over
the course of a few months, Yuu gets a feel for Mikaela’s usual routes,
and spends at least part of his day watching him in the most
inconspicuous manner possible. And over time… he notices little things
that, by themselves, would be no reason to raise question. Mikaela
pausing when a couple of kids run past him, instead of stepping on toes
or kicking them aside. Only huffing indignantly when one stumbles and
bumps the side of his leg. Wearing a barely noticeable smile when he
sees a group of friends joyously sharing handmade presents for a
birthday. He never taunts, never bares his fangs, never manhandles the
humans even when it seems like the most convenient option.
It’s
then that Yuu is certain that Mikaela would be his best bet for
striking a deal. He stupidly seeks the noble out just before curfew –
but instead of conversation, he’s roughly thrown into a shed away from
prying eyes, and pinned by an enraged Mika.
Mikaela declares
that he isn’t stupid, that he’s noticed Yuu following him around for
months. He asks if Yuu has a death wish, what the hell he was thinking
being so far away from his quarters so close to curfew, and insists that
any further insubordination will result in his death.
But Yuu just laughs. He’s terrified, he’s still uncertain, but he has the gall to utter a nervous laugh because Mikaela did it again.
Yuu was caught doing something that any other vampire would have killed
him for, and yet here Mika was again, letting him go and simply
insisting “next time” he won’t be so generous. He isn’t sure just how
deep Mika’s bullshit runs, but he knows it’s there.
So Yuu tells
him. How he’s seen Mikaela treat humans with a touch more sympathy, how
he’s spared Yuu’s own life twice in a row. That on some level, he must
be reasonable enough to consider a blood deal.
This of course only infuriated Mika more, because blood deals are a death sentence.
He insists to Yuu that he’s found several underlings engaging in the
act, but within months, weeks, or even days, the human is always drained
dry once the vampire gets bored.
Mikaela’s ranting over Yuu’s
lack of self preservation only elicits more dispute between them. They
aren’t sure just how long it had been since Mika threw them both in the
relative safety of the shed, but eventually, he’s the one that
breaks down. A noble bested by a snotty brat of a kid, tearing down his
centuries of work keeping everything a secret, and here Mikaela was –
eventually pouring everything he’s been keeping bottled up inside: that
he detests how humans are treated, how he feels its unfair for children
to pay for the sins of their forefathers, how he sees kindness and
compassion in humans they send in for slaughter and it kills him.
Yuu
slowly realizes he’s not standing in front of a vampire who’s willing
to make a blood deal with him. He’s standing in front of a noble who
completely and sincerely sympathizes with his plight.
It’s a
very tedious and awkward transition, but soon Yuu begins to visit Mika
under the guise that he’s offering his blood to a noble (who are really
the only ones able to get away with it out in the open). Yuu’s endeavors
are of course driven by the hopes of better living conditions, but
also, surprisingly… hope that he can help someone who seems to be
suffering just as much as him. Mikaela’s ice cold demeanor fools
everyone else, but Yuu can tell he’s harboring immense guilt and sadness
for every human in Sanguinem.
Slowly, very slowly, Mikaela
opens up to Yuu. He never asks for blood in return, but still gives him
little gifts for his family to share. He teaches Yuu how to read, lets
him hog any book he wants from the library, and even starts to smile. Even if it’s just one child, Mika starts to feel that maybe he’s helping this one live in a bit less fear, a bit less pain.
But
Yuu never had any hope of keeping such a massive secret under the rug.
Eventually, his family (Kimizuki(14), Shinoa(13), Mitsuba(12), and
Yoichi(10)) soon finds out what he’s been doing. After a whole mess of
conflict, Mika ends up being a sort of guardian for them all, often
breaking the rules by visiting their home past curfew to help prepare
dinner, share stories, or lull the younger ones to sleep.
He
might not be able to risk anything more than this, but at least he feels
like he’s making a difference for a small handful of humans who
genuinely never deserved such a pitiable life.
(Though perhaps he helps change their lives entirely once some years pass… but that’s another story for another time.)
(btw
if anyone wants to RP or write this, feel free! Looks like a few people
already started an RP thing so I just wanted everyone to know I’m
totally fine with anyone who wants to run with it)
