Transcendence request: the sock opera comes up. Henry realizes that Mabel (almost successfully!) romanced Gabe by writing an entire opera about how great he is and how wonderful their relationship would be. He is secretly slightly jealous. Mabel writes a skit and/or song that is just as weird but with writing that is less endearingly terrible and more just endearing. so sorry but the idea of Mabel singing to Henry from a sock puppet of herself and him being legitimately touched is so funny to me

“Dipper, can you please let me open my eyes now?”

From within Henry’s mind, Dipper’s voice rang out.

“No can do brother of mine. Mabel said eyes shut until she was ready with your anniversary surprise.”

Henry huffed. “I could have gone into the other room instead of, oh, I don’t know, you forcing me to keep my eyelids shut.”

In his mind’s eye his brother in law smiled a large Cheshire Cat grin. “But this way is funner. And anyway, Mabel says it’s okay to open your eyes now so-“

The force that was keeping Henry’s eyes shut disappeared, and the lack of that weight was enough to throw Henry’s head back, smacking the wall.

“Ow Mabel honey do we-”

Henry trailed off.

In front of him was a little stage, and…

Sock puppets.

Sock puppets everywhere.

Along with twenty pounds of dry ice, some of their stand lamps dragooned into service as makeshift spotlights, Grenda and Candy and Wendy standing by as extra hands, and a sign propped against the stage that read “The Best Anniversary: A Sock Opera”

In the middle of it all was Mabel, with one of the biggest smiles he had ever seen on her face.

She jumped on his lap and threw her arms around him.

“Happy anniversary Henry! I hope you’re ready to laugh! And cry! And then laugh and cry at the-eee!”

Henry was squeezing Mabel tight, his face buried in her sweater.

He really was the luckiest man in the world, Henry thought.

“Love you Mabes,” Henry said.

She rested her cheek on his head. “Love you too.”

(unseen, Dipper smiled, once again happy that his twin had found a man who loved her for who and what she was)

God I just fell in love with this AU! Anyway, this question has been really bugging me. What happened to Candy and Grenda? I mean, are they dead? Are they just not friends with Mabel anymore? I mean, they haven’t really been mentioned in this AU ever! Do they just not exist anymore or what?

haha omg friend it’s okay, this blog is a week old, and I only have a couple hours a day at best to dedicate to this blog and plot/world/character building; just because a character hasn’t been talked about yet doesn’t mean they aren’t there!

I lean towards the headcanon of Mabel marrying fairly early out of highschool and opting out of college, or just getting an Associate’s degree; Grenda and Candy might go elsewhere to better colleges for four years during that time.

Because I’m a sentimental sap, I really want to see all of Mabel’s friends (including Pacifica) coming back to Gravity Falls after college. You tend to see that happening more often in people from small towns; they prefer to stay close to family, close to home, and are fine having a slightly less dazzling career and income doing so (not that Pacifica has to worry about that last part).

I’d love to see Candy open up a supernatural weapons/defense shop or something. She was pretty gung-ho about that laser Waddles made for her (shhh I know that story was technically made up). Grenda had a pet lizard, so maybe a pet store or pet supply store? idk I’m honestly not really creative in the “figuring out jobs” department for characters haha ;;;;

Of course, they totally help Mabel out with her Etsy shop, and are 0% freaked out by Dipper. How can they, when they still remember torturing him during their sleepovers? In fact, they can still do that pretty easily.
