Happy Birthday
“Happy birthday Remy!” Everyone was spread out across several blankets at Gravity Falls park for his pre-birthday party lunch. Sofia, Mabel, Willow, Dipper, Hank, Henry, Acacia, and even some of his and the triplets friends from school were there too.
He was having the time of his life playing games, opening gifts, and watching the magic show that Dipper and Willow were putting on. Sofia and Mabel had gotten together and had a Battle of the Meal so there were two versions of everything and Remy was about to pass judgment on whose was better when…
“Sofia Vazquez! You give back what is rightfully mine!”
It took a second to notice the grown man in a blue jean jacket with white hair (that for once wasn’t styled in an homage to the 50’s) that was standing only fifty feet away.
Gideon was worse for the wear, what woth his clothes being ripped, blood stained and mud spattered.
“Give me back what is mine!”
Everyone was so busy ogling and (in Sofia’s and the Pines family’s case) glaring at the newcomer, they didn’t notice the panic that was building in Jeremiah.
Everyone except Dipper that is.
—————————Dipper was tired of this. Honestly he was. He was just so sick of Gideon popping up and demanding that Jeremiah come with him.
He wasn’t even concerned about his well-being! He just thought that because Jeremiah was his son that he belonged to him. Like he was a pet. Or an interesting table lamp.
The definition of an unhealthy relationship.
Suddenly, Dipper caught the enticing feel of panic, terror, and heartbreak wafting through the air. He knew immediately where it was coming from and dammit the kid had had enough trauma in his life without watching his father getting thrown in jail (or wose if Sofia had anything to say about it.)
So Dipper flew into action. One second he was crosslegged in mid-air juggling screaming fireballs, the next he was poofing himself and Gideon into the middle of no where.
—————————Gideon landed face first. As he got up, dark spots flashing across his eyes as his pupils adjusted to the light, he spat out sand.
He felt a flourish of magic behind him, heard a whoosh, and turned. There was Dipper, floating several inches above the sand dune, his entire body void and covered with golden brickwork while blue and gold fire raged around him.
Dipper just stood there for a moment, letting his aura overtake the man’s emotions, flooding him with fear.
“I want my son Pines. He belongs to me.”
“Your son despises you. Fears you. Wants nothing to do with you. Why would I let him go back into an abusive relationship?”
“Because he is mine! I raised him!”
“Barely.”
Dipper had seen the memories, played out as dreams in the boy’s head. Sure he had had some nice times with his father but he had barely been around. Gideon had been more like a father with visitation rights than a full time dad.
Dipper drew himself up to full height, bright flames turning dark red edged with orange. He spread his wings, void on the scenery of sand and sky, and walked towards Gideon.
“Listen. To. Me.” He said, punctuating each word with a step that left little plates of glass gleaming in the light.
“You will not contact Jeremiah again. You will not attempt to take custody of him again. You will not harrass, molest, or otherwise annoy him or his family. If you do, I will be forced to do something only one of us will regret.”
Gideon shivered in the warm sunlight. He had never seen Dipper so menacing, so…. demonic. He hated to admit that he was afraid, but realistically he was unable to go against a demon.
Reluctantly Gideon nodded.
Dipper smiled, all razor sharp teeth, and disappeared. In his place was a note.
‘The nearest town is two days walk north-east. You might want to walk at night. GOOD LUCK!’ At the bottom of the page was a little black star with a single eye that had a speech bubble. ‘You can’t tell but I’m winking.” —————————
Jeremiah looked better, less tense, when Dipper poofed back into the party.
“What happened?” “Where’d you guys go?” “Is that #@$!! still alive?!”
“Sofia!”
“He’s still alive. Don’t worry.” Dipper said, walking over to the Birthday Boy, and ignoring the sad groan that came from Sofia.
Jeremiah blooked at him, nervous and still a bit tense.
Dipper knelt in front of him, his hands on his shoulders, and looked Remy in the eyes.
“He’s never going to bother you again.” Dipper said, his voice soft so that no one else could hear what he said.
Jeremiah’s aura fluttered a soft yellow (hope), a dark red (loathing), and a violent orange (shock). Then it fell blank as his entire being, mind body and soul, processed the words.
Dipper was concerned when he saw tears in his eyes. Had he done something wrong?
His fears were lifted when Jeremiah threw his arms around Dipper’s neck and hugged him tight, tears streaming down his face.
“Best Birthday present EVER.” —————————
((Author’s note: Well hot damn. This was going to be an angst filled drama but I puked this fluffy little piece up instead. Hope you guys enjoy.
I sort of Headcanon that Jeremiah looks up to Dipper (when he gets past the whole demon thing) as a sort of big brother. Therefore of course Dip would protect Remy because that’s what big bros do for their little bros.
This prompt was Anonymous so I hope whoever prompted this sees it.
The prompt was: Dipper protects Jeremiah from Gideon.))
crack hc that when gideon reincarnates he always inexplicably has that southern accent. ALWAYS.

I propose a second important point in the timeline for Gravity Falls, The Scouring; an Alliance of Anti-Transcendence groups decide to attack Gravity Falls, first by cutting off all communications, then by erecting an anti-magic barrier around the valley, before attacking the GF Sheriff’s Office. They then proceed to round up people and hunt down magical beings to prepare for the “Cleansing”, a ritual to undo the Transcendence, mainly using Alcor as a power source. There’s a resistance but…1/2
2/2 “The Scouring” … they’re outgunned and most of them were initially captured, and Gideon having his own group of overzealous followers making things worse. Hank, having permanently moved to Portland by then, feels that something is very wrong and mobilizes, calling Lucy Ann “Get everybody.” “Everybody?” “Everybody.” Cue the most massive mobilization since the Oregon Trail, meanwhile in Gravity Falls, Henry and Gideon face off, and Henry gets angry, and turns into the Woodsman without Alcor.
well its official, this damn show is taking over my life…
here’s some more (
and there’s even so much more of these you have no idea) school doodles, now featuring stuff for the monster falls and transcendence aus, and a couple of bippersand i even tried to draw mabel! tho i kinda wanna work on how i draw her still..
oh and the transcendence one with gideon was based on this
willow looking hella like mabel and gideon being hella creepy about it. i just. i just REALLY like villains being creepy and gross.
He could try, but the second he steps within 50 feet of any of the triplets, Dipper would be on him like nobody’s business
No freaking way he’d let a sociopath with a track record like that anywhere near his family
Gideon would end up in the ER most likely
Not so Gleeful pt. 2
Jeremiah was trying hard not to do alot of things. Stick out, be unique, be noticeable were all at the top.
So why in the name of sanity did he decide to make a scene on his first day of class?!
“There is no way in hell I am ever summoning Alcor the Dream-bender.” He said.
‘Oh god oh god oh god he’s going to ask why’ Is what he thought as the teacher’s face became set with what Jeremiah had always called ‘Hearing but not Listening Syndrome”.
It came with being an adult.
“And why not?” His teacher asked predictably.
‘Think of something good or you’ll get in trouble’
“Um… b-because he’s a very powerful demon. No sane person would summon him unless needed.” Yeah. That was a good excuse.
“Ah. I see. Well luckily enough I have permission from the demon in question, and it is alright to summon him on purely academic grounds. You have nothing to fear from Alcor.”
The teacher smiled. It was supposed to be a warm smile but to Jeremiah Gleeful, it was like slipping a nail in his coffin.
—————————The next week was a mix of catch up and homework, with a dash of anxiety over the fact that he had to summon a demon in front of the entire class.
Jeremiah didn’t like that. In fact he started hyperventilating when he even thought of summoning a demon.
He also disliked the fame he had recieved with his defiance. He needed to blend in yet he continued to stick out. Especially since people began noticing the fact that the Pines Triplets were interested in him. (There was a rumor going around that Acacia had tried to steal his permanent record.)
So like most high schoolers, he was happy when the weekend came. Not like most high schoolers, however, was the reason why.
Jeremiah needed practice. If he was going to be living in Gravity Falls, a place that practically throbbed with magic, he needed to get his act together.
So he went into the forest right after school on Friday.
—————————“Denuntiamus autem manum meam igni” his hand caught on fire, a tiny whisp of a thing.
He groaned and released the magic.
‘I just don’t feel it’ he realized. This was his fifteenth attempt at a simple fire spell, and that was the best out of all of them. But it was nowhere near what he was actually capable of.
He was trying so hard but every time he tried, he remembered his last fraternization with magic. He remembered the consequences.
—————————Screams. A glowing red light. Blood. Candles and viscera. Oh no….
“I COMMAND YOU TO OBEY ME!!” a voice screamed as claws raked through the air. Black tendrils snaking their way though the room searching for something easy.
Young was easy. Unconscious was better.
Jeremiah saw the tendrils grab a hold of a leg and an arm. Long black hair waving wildly as the woman it was attached to was dragged towards the portal.
Jeremiah grabbed the woman’s hand. “MOM!!” He screamed as he pulled against an un-yielding force.
He looked up at the man he had thought would protect them. The man he had only ever admired.
“Dad, help us!!!” He screamed.
The man looked down, blood on his baby blue suit, pressurized holy water in a bottle in his hand, eyes half crazed with power. He was smiling.
“Beautiful isn’t it? All that power! And soon it will be mine!!!”
‘He won’t help’ Jeremiah realized. ‘I’m on my own.’
He saw the the circle, the source of the demon. The cause of all this. He did the only thing that made sense. He destroyed it.
He grabbed the bottle of holy water from his father’s hand and crushed it against the circle, smearing the symbols, releasing the demonic energy back into the ether.
There was a loud boom and several thuds, as the shockwave the destroyed circle emanated flung everything in the room to the walls.
Gideon was knocked out. So was his mother. He could feel the hot blood flooding down his face, coating his hair.
He had to act fast. He crawled towards his father’s study, eyesight straining and getting blurry. He grabbed for the phone, managing to knock it to the floor.
He dialled 911. Then he passed out.
When the cops arrived Gideon Gleeful was gone. He and his mother were taken to the local hospital to be treated for lacerations and internal bruising. He had a minor concussion.
Marianna Gleeful (nee Vazquez) had fallen into a coma.
His mother never woke up.
—————————Jeremiah woke with a start.
“Just a bad dream…” he muttered as he picked up his things.
He said dream. He meant memory.
Jeremiah Gleeful backround info
Name: Jeremiah Nathaniel Gleeful
Age: 15 (in the Not so Gleeful fics)
Gender: Male
Sexuality: demisexual panromantic
Physical: 5’8 ;120 pounds; platinum blonde hair (undercut); green eyes; tan skin (indicative of Hispanic heritage)
Likes: food (boy can the boy eat); sci-fi; dark clothes (he has a bit of a hang up about fashion); booooooookkkkss (sooo many books); magic.
Dislikes: Gideon Gleeful; being the center of attention (in groups. One on one is fine); being judged; demons.
Origin story: It all starts with Gideon. After his failed summoning of Alcor, (reference to another fic where Dipper actually laughs and tweaks Gideon’s nose before flying away) Gideon travelled around and learned how to fight off the paranormal. He faced demons and monsters, and, along the way, learned of a book owned by a young woman in New Orleans, one Marianna Vazquez.
When he got there he was awestuck because, not only did she have an incredible amount of literature on the paranormal, she looked like a Hispanic version of Mabel!
So of course he attempted to woo her (creeper) and unfortunately she didn’t see who he really was until after they got married. By the time she realized who the real Gideon Gleeful was, she was already pregnant.
Gideon spent alot of time traveling taking jobs here and there. He was working up his powers, readying himself to face Dipper.
Meanwhile back in New Orleans, Marianna was raising Jeremiah. He was shy but smart. However he absolutely adored his father. Gideon hardly noticed him (this led to somewhat of an inferiority complex) which led to Jeremiah trying to prove himself.
When he was 13 he got his chance. Gideon wanted to summon a demon, in the hopes that he would be able to test his skills. It was a high class demon (whom I am thinking I will name Huntokar) Jeremiah wanted to prove that he was good enough to be noticeable by his father, so he volunteered to help.
Huntokar turned out to be much stronger than Gideon, and when he realized that, his mind snapped.
Marianna realized that this had gone one long enough and, when she discovered that Jeremiah was in danger, she rushed in to help him. She got knocked unconscious by the demon and was about to be killed when Jeremiah broke the seal on the circle.
When she got thrown against the wall by the backlash of energy, she suffered minor brain injury. However despite the medical attention she received only a short while later, she hasn’t woken up from her coma. (She is still in her coma during the Not so Gleeful fics)
Jeremiah was sent to live with his Aunt Sofia (his mother’s sister). Meanwhile Gideon tracked him down and offered to take him in as an apprentice. Jeremiah refused and called the police (seeing as how he was wanted for child endangerment and assault charges)
Jeremiah and his Aunt moved around trying to get away from Gideon, finally moving to Gravity Falls just in time for Jeremiah to start school. There he meets Willow, Acacia, and Hank. Their relationship starts off shaky (him being accused of being a spy) but they become great friends in the end.
Gideon hasn’t found him yet but it’s just a matter of time.
