Chapter 1Last Chapter – Next Chapter

Mabel and Dipper – the demon one, not her Dipper, the one that failed to tell them that he was a Dipper to begin with – sat in silence in the lounge.

“So, other demon Dipper,” Mabel said after a few seconds more, fidgeting with the bottom of her sweater.

“Just, keep calling me Alcor, it’ll get rid of any confusion,” Dipp- Alcor said.

“Right, Alaw.” Mabel had a small cheeky smile as she saw Alcor groan in annoyance.

“Seriously? I know you can pronounce that correctly now!”

Guys. Guys. I misread/interpreted something for a moment on this blog and was struck by the most wonderful idea/prompt:

Demonoligist Mizar.

Sometime after Mabel, another Mizar is reincarnated. She grows up, sees some freaky (normal freaky, not demon freaky) stuff and decides for one reason or another to go into demonology. She winds up meeting Alcor for the first time when she summons the dork (either on purpose, or he interrupts a more threatening demon) for her thesis project in front of the whole class, and he launches himself at her in a flying-tackle hug.

which once they get over the sheer terror is hella embarrassing. I mean, it kills the bad ass demon summoner cred she was going for.

Twenty six. That was how many apocalypses the Earth had been through. Alcor was finding it hard to care about this latest one, but something different would happen to a Mizar down in that destruction. Something he’d never seen before.

The Other Way Chapter 5: A Birthday Card

Chapter 1Last Chapter – Next Chapter

After a few moments of staring at pancakes she didn’t feel like eating any more Mabel got up from the table to find Dipper. She just, needed to think about something else, something that wasn’t the crushing possibility of never seeing the Shack again, or Stan, Soos, Wendy, Candy and Grenda, Mum and Dad, or even Ford who they’d only recently just started getting to know. She just needed to distract herself.

long overdue for @marypsue

“I’m glad you came out Grunkle Ford.”

Ford smiled. “Well it’s not every day my favorite niece gets married.”

Mabel pumped her fist. “YES! I AM THE PRIME NIECE!”

He opened his mouth to remind her that they needed to be careful about the gnomes in this part of the forest, then remembered that Mabel not only perfected gnome deflection techniques, she apparently was on a quiz bowl team with Schmebulock at the Skull Fracture.

They walked in comfortable silence for awhile. Ford pointed out some plaidypus tracks that they followed for awhile before conceding defeat; though how a bright red monotreme could disappear in the forest boggled Ford’s mind. Mabel took perhaps a little too much pleasure at nodding and waving at a passing unicorn herd, who ran screaming in terror away from her.

Finally, when they had stopped at a little brook- to take notes and go wading- Mabel said, “So you know Dipper is Henry’s best man, right?”

Ford was proud of himself- he didn’t look up, didn’t stop taking notes, and his voice didn’t waver when he said, “Either you or Stan had mentioned it to me, yes.”

“Oh, okay, good. Just wanted to make sure you weren’t surprised or anything.”

Ford sighed. “Mabel, if you are worried about me creating a scene or starting any unpleasantness at your wedding, I can assure you that I am capable of not only being civil, but I’ve had extensive experience controlling inappropriate emotional responses.”

Mabel arched an eyebrow at him.

Okay, he deserved that one.

“Hey, I think I saw one of those salamanders you were looking for-” She bent over to start digging in the water. As Mabel sifted through the pebbles, she went on. “I know you won’t cause a fuss Grunkle Ford. It’s enough that you’re here this weekend.”

“I…” He didn’t know what to say. Finally, he managed a weak, “I’m just so busy, and you know the boat doesn’t get good reception.”

“FOUND ONE- poot, no that was a leaf. And no, you’re not busy. Well, I mean you are, but really you’re just avoiding Dipper, which means by extension you’re avoiding Stan and me.” A loud splash as Mabel overturned a large rock. “But I get it.”

He was frozen in place, as Mabel rooted in the mud to look for the seven tailed salamanders that lived in this brook.

“What happened to Dipper; it can be as hard on us as it is on him. And not everyone is capable with dealing with it. It took me awhile to accept that but now I get it. I know you still love us both. You’re here, you’re not like, throwing weird holy water at Dipper or anything like that.”

She stood up, now covered up to her shoulders in mud. “Since it’s just us out here, I just wanted to say thank you. I know it probably took a lot for you to come, and I appreciate it.”

The invitation sat on his table unopened for a week, and when he had the gumption to actually open it, it took another three days to pull the letter out, and of course he didn’t talk to Stan for two weeks because that would have meant addressing the matter and-

“I found one!” Two calloused hands suddenly appeared in front of his face, a multi limbed reptile squirming in them.

Ford looked up at the smiling face of his grand-niece, accepting and completely without any guile.

He hadn’t felt this empty in a long time.

To demonologists Mizar is the biggest headache that exists. Alcor is clearly a demon a powerful demon but a demon. The Woodsman is clearly a creature possibly a forest god but again fit the classifications. Mizar on the other hand has no summoning circle but sometime appears in Alcor’s there are multiple reliable sources that report her appearing as a baby or young child possibly explaining the myth of Gliese so shape shifting and demonic fire. Some think Alcor created her just to mess with them

Not to mention that sometimes decades or even a century or two will go without an active Mizar, how hard it can be to find/prove who Mizar is, the occasional record tampering Dipper will do to ensure people don’t look too deeply into the past wrt Mizar… the list goes on!

HC: Hank and Willow simultaneously go into an emo phase. Like heavy, edgelord clothes. (Special Five Hours Only! Only $19.99!) Dyed hair. EVERYTHING. Now, Acacia has to hide this from EVERYONE, because if she saves them from getting mockery for this, they’ll help her??? (Bonus points if the two even go by their ‘demon’ names (Gliese and the one I can’t remember for Hank from that one fic)))

Hmmm.

Mod S here! So I don’t really see Hank and Willow going hard core emo/edgelord/scene; even if it was in their personalities, Mabel would (not entirely on purpose) take the piss out of it by wholeheartedly and earnestly joining them in the hair-dying and bedecking of clothes in safety pins and generally making it NOT COOL ANYMORE.

(also, their uncle is a demon. they win at being edge forever)

That being said, if Hank and Willow went emo, Acacia would do the opposite of hiding it. No, she would be two steps behind them the whole time, glaring at every single person who even blinks at them wrong, and wearing a whole bunch of suspiciously heavy metal rings to school all the sudden.

There’s only one person who can make fun of her siblings, and that’s Acacia. Everyone else can put up or shut up.
