Hey guys

rosebadwolf1000:

Remind me to never read Transcendence au fics

I can’t handle them

I get so emotionally invested in characters and relate to them so much it literally hurts

Like I sobbed a few minutes ago and my heart is just aching

And all this is over is just the build up. I’m not even done with the second chapter.

It’s really bad and I have issues with a lot of fandom stuff this way. ((Aka: why I flitter through fandoms so quickly. So the pain doesn’t hurt))

oh no dearheart! remember to take care of urself!

Is there a song that you think best represent Alcor?

Not one single song, no. As with any person or character, there are too many facets to his life, his experiences, and his personality to pin it all down just to one set of lyrics.

Instead, people have made playlists for Transcendence AU, and especially for Alcor. These exist on youtube and 8tracks at the very least, and perhaps on other sites as well. They’re pretty easy to search, if you’ve a little time, and you’ll probably notice some patterns in the songs chosen if you’d like to choose one fit in particular.

(Note to everyone: we don’t publish the asks you send in with song suggestions, though we have, in the past, saved them to create a compiled TAU song list on 8tracks at the time of our anniversary – so if you do send something to us in response to this ask, even if it’s a suggestion to this anon, don’t expect to see it appear on the blog!)

How do you guys handle AUs of TAU? Do you post them, or ignore them? I know I’ve seen Drift AU on this blog, but what if someone came up with an AAU where Dipper didn’t ‘grow up’ alongside Mable, or one where Dipper’s dimension hopping (like in the transdimensional arc) has almost no negative repercussions and is therefor done more often. What determines what is “too far from canon” to be posted here?

TAU canon hinges mostly on these things:

1. Dipper and Mabel are human-born twins.

2. Dipper and Dipper alone becomes an immortal demon via an absorption of Bill’s powers.

3. Mabel remains human.

4. The Transcendence happens in the process.

(Plus a few other fiddly bits and pieces which are less officially concrete but still exert a pull on our decisions in this area. For instance, we all love Henry too much to easily entertain an AU where…I don’t know, where he doesn’t exist, where he doesn’t meet and marry Mabel, where he’s somehow a horrible person…you know?)

So, when a new AU is born in which, for instance, both twins become demons, we may post mention of it, but we don’t continue to post headcanons for that AU. Instead, it generally splits off to its own blog and tag and circle of discussion.

If the AU in question includes the above points, we’re likelier to entertain it here on the blog, though it’ll still come down a bit to what we think is reasonable overall. Drift is one such AU – they still start out as human-born twins, Dipper still becomes a demon, Mabel still remains human; it’s just some of the details that change, and in an interesting enough way to open some new possibilities for stories.

One exception to this generality might be the dimension-hopping one, since it’s hard to envision a dimension in which dimensional walls are easily breached without it going both ways, you know? I think we mods would like to remain pretty firm on that point, if only because the strength of said walls almost has to be a shared characteristic between these alternate universes.

Since the final decision seems to be that Alcor the demon would lose to THEFINALPAM, what about God!Alcor? Also, what exactly is THEFINALPAM? I haven’t been able to dig up any information on him/her/it.

Mod O has no clue what it is, and is only answering this because other mods more likely in the know haven’t yet and it’s slowly getting buried in the inbox.

Her belief is that God!Alcor is sufficiently overpowered that he could wipe out anything he wanted to, and even some things he doesn’t want to by mistake. She can’t gauge this against whatever power this PAM being has, but God!Alcor power seems pretty heavy on the scale, and if the original fight was close enough that the knowing mods had slightly differing opinions on how it would go, then he should have this in the bag.

Really, on that note the original question should have specified how old the ‘regular’ Alcor is in this match-up. New to demonhood, not yet powerful enough to hold a physical form without a sacrifice? Accustomed to and comfortable with his powers but not yet strong enough that a fight with another demon is a foregone conclusion? Rapidly approaching godhood, having seen eons pass, his strength ever-growing throughout them all? Mod O’s got the feeling that this will change the answer.

Wait, if the final pam can exist…what about him? You know, “him”. Does he exist as well? Is Busto around anywhere?

We don’t really do crossovers so much as some hypothetical questions (i.e. who would win in a fight, in theory? What hogwarts houses, in theory?) so it’s not that these entities actually exist in TAU-verse.

That said, their media of origin, or at least a version of it, generally do exist in this world. “Who would win in a fight” could be a debate among the triplets in that case.

Wait… brightness and color to show off power? Wouldn’t that imply mizar’s tendency to scare demons is actually her own doing via rather than her connection to alcor?

Mizar’s connection to Alcor, especially as time goes on, is ridiculously frightening to demons. The moment they notice it? Bam, gone, not messing with that, not without a tempting enough reward.

Demons also tend to underestimate non-demons. They’re a bit full of themselves. So Mizar wouldn’t be able to scare demons, bright and colorful as they are. This is a human, the demon would say to themselves (before knowing Mizar was Mizar). Their color and brightness mean nothing, this is a human. Weak. Powerless. Delicious. That’s all.

That doesn’t mean they wouldn’t be…unsettled.
