Don’t assume malice. Assume ignorance. Life is easier, the world is kinder, and you can educate. Actual malice is pretty rare, I find.

Always remember Hanlon’s Razor–”Never assume malice when incompetence will suffice as an explanation.”

That’s said, never forget Fred Clark’s Law, either: “Sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice.” There’s a certain point at which ignorance becomes malice–at which there is simply no way to become that ignorant except deliberately and maliciously.

#Deep Throat’s Law:#“the truth is these are not very bright guys and things got out of hand.”

Article 13 has been approved by EU. It’s worse than Net Neutrality has ever been. I don’t even know if we will have any access to Tumblr, Pinterest, Ao3 or even Instagram. Memes are probably dead, just like reactions, fanfictions and gifsets. Everyone in EU is in danger that they will not have access to their favorite sites. But I haven’t seen a SINGLE post about it on my dash because Americans doesn’t give a damn.

Also, I’m in Europe and ngl, had no idea this was even an article up for debate let alone it being fucking passed.

Don’t panic! This was expected at this stage and it is only the beginning. If you are a European and feel passionate about this, please keep on reading and help!

So what has happened so far … the Commission has drafted up a long overdue copyright reform. https://eur-lex.europa.eu/procedure/EN/2016_280 It contains a lot of good, and some bad: mainly Article 11 and 13.

This was put forward as a whole to the European Parlament, where it was voted down on the 5th of July 2018

This meant, this will not go through the fast way, and will be subject to scrutiny and change.

The Commission made some alterations https://eur-lex.europa.eu/procedure/EN/2016_280 and put it forward again. If Parlament would have voted it down again, it probably would have meant back to the drawing board, but most people (including me) agree that Europe does need copyright reform, so on the second vote it passed the first step:

So what happens now?

This will now go into what is called the Trilogue, where Commission, Parlament and representatives of all national governments will sit together to make alterations until everybody is happy implementing the regulation.

This means we can now influence this via our MEPs and our National Government!

In countries that are red your government is likely to support Article 13.

What to do now?

There are a lot of organisations that organise actions against article 13. Check out their websites and get in touch with your MEP or local government and let them know you are unhappy about this.

… and many many more, just google to find one in your country.

Also, as @asthesea-breezehitsmylungs pointed out, a lot of people are not aware of this going on. So make them aware! Share the memes and point them to the petitions. And don’t just complain how shit this is, get in touch with your politicians!

How to Finish

I drew this poster for Jon Acuff and his FINISH book tour. Big thanks to Jon for this collaboration, his book has some great ideas about how to complete creative and life goals.

Love this, but reblogging it specifically for “Get rid of secret rules.” That’s one of the most amazing illustrations—and points—I’ve ever seen.

so important especially for perfectionists who procrastinate and never finish, or even start because they set such high standards for themselves.

the two previous movie series of Spider-Man always had it that Spidey was a Big Hit with the citizens of nyc in spite of the negative press/police departments actively hunting him down but we haven’t really seen anything like that in the mcu past Peter’s classmates simply being aware that Spider-Man is a hero who exists, like we didn’t see any slandering articles or angry officers which is WEIRD considering the canonical climate about superheros in the mcu right now so like….I really hope it carries over into this third series because frankly I love the idea of everyone in a post-accords world in constant debate about superheroes like ‘should they be held accountable for casualties’ and ‘does it make sense to give all this power to just a few people and force them to make potentially catastrophic situations’ and ‘do we even truly Need superheroes’ like any and all debate they can think of but at the same time, all the citizens in New York are collectively like ‘Yeah….but we’re gonna leave the Spider-Boy out of this….he just wants to help out….he’s doing his Best..’ lmao

The Entire City Of New York: after all the danger we’ve been placed in since these superheroes started popping up, since the Avenger’s set up a headquarters here- we’re sick of it. superheroes only prevent problems that they create in the first place and cause millions in damages doing it. we want our city to be safe!

Also The Entire City Of New York: we’ve only had Spider-Man for a year and a half but if anything ever happened to him we would kill everyone on this planet and then ourselves

J. Jonah Jameson: writes a scathing article about the ‘spider menace’ ‘terrorizing’ Queens and campaigns for his arrest and imprisonment alongside other ‘mutant menaces’

That Nice Old Lady that bought Peter a churro: *barges into the Daily Bugle office swinging her handbag with deadly force*

Citizens of New York City: fuck the avengers!!

The Rest Of The World: you do realize that your Spider-Man has been spotted helping the Avengers on multiple occasions and many believe him to be an honorable member of the team?

Luigi’s Mansion 3 is coming to the Nintendo Switch

Listen… Listen hang on a minute

Listen I love Luigi’s Mansion to fucking pieces, and this sounds absolutely fantastic but you know just? Just a moment here. The plot of Luigi’s Mansion, if you don’t know, is that Luigi won a free mansion in a raffle he didn’t enter, and ya know okay, that’s sketch already, so really no one should be surprised when the mansion is evil and haunted. And it is. And Luigi has to go through the whole thing to rescue his idiot brother who tried to steal his random fucking evil haunted mansion which he won from a non-existent contest he didn’t enter. (Okay Mario and Luigi were “meeting up” there, but look, Mario got there first for a reason, Mario was trying to steal that mansion with his grubby gloved hands and make the whole thing into another Mario title, like every other time, because he has no respect for his little brother or anyone else, but clearly thats a different rant)

So my. So here’s, so my question here, now, is this: This is Luigi’s Mansion 3. As in third. As in three times. Are we? Did Luigi win THREE mansions? In sketchy raffles he didn’t enter? Did he just, all three times, say “alright cool lets-a-go it’s-a Luigi’s lucky day for once!” It’s never Luigi’s lucky day. Never. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES? Does Luigi just lack all ability to form long-term memories? Is this the result of hitting his head on so many brick blocks that he’s just, like a goldfish swimming circles in a bowl, just surprised and pleased-as-peach at every go around– because, at every go-around when he’s handed a mansion dripping with ectoplasmic goo and brimming with the undead laughter of ghouls, at every single go-around when this happens does Luigi just say “ooh, free mansion!” with no memory? No recollection? Mario was turned into a painting. THIS IS THE THIRD FUCKING TIME LUIGI.

Like don’t get me wrong I think it will be an amazing title with pleasing modern graphics and a unique take on a classic experience but Luigi, from the bottom of my heart, what the fuck

No you idiot, Luigi’s Mansion 2 was Luigi getting roped into saving a valley from ghosts gone insane because the magic gemstone moon got shattered by King Boo. And also Mario got kidnapped again by King Boo because of course. There were 5 mansions in 2, not including the Scare Tower where you played in multiplayer. Oh, and Luigi also saved the entire fucking world at the end of 2, because King Boo thought “Hmm. needs more ghosts” and opened a fucking PORTAL TO THE GHOST WORLD, THAT WAS SO UNSTABLE IT’D SUCK UP THE WORLD IF LUIGI DIDN’T SUCK UP ALL THE GHOSTS.

If you’re gonna talk like this? At least know your fucking games.

the irony of a person calling OP an idiot when they can’t even tell what a shitpost is
