The tau lepton is a superheavy cousin of the electron, the carrier of electrical current in household appliances. The two particles are identical in all respects except that the tau is more than 3,500 times heavier than the electron and survives less than a trillionth of a second, whereas the electron is stable. (In which we are the lepton and Gravity Falls is the electron.)

Mod R is here for physics but also believes that TAU will last longer than a trillionth of a second 😛

Quick hypothetical question: If there ever were another circumstance like the Transcendence, where a demon and a human effectively ‘switched places,’ what would happen to all of the souls that the now-human demon used to own? For that matter, what would happen if the demon-turned-human used to own the human-turn-demon’s soul? Can you even hold possession over another demon soul?

When a demon dies, they no longer possess any souls. As for possessing a demon soul, mod r is not sure but i’d assume that it’s theoretically possible. The odds of a demon being tricked so severely as to give up their soul to another demon sounds drastically less possible.

Hi! I just found this yesterday and spent all night diving in head-first. I was just wondering; is there any place where I can find everything – or even just the highlights! – chronologically? Like, when I first saw mention of the Woodsman incident I didn’t know who Willow was. I know who she is now, but I figure there’s lots more stuff about the triplets growing up before that whole thing happens, and I don’t want to spoil too much. I know it’ll have greater impact if I know what’s going on.

Well figuring out the in-universe timeline of the AU is a tricky bit of business, but if you want to know when ideas were formed in real life, you can go to tags like #willow, #triplets, #the woodsman, etc and add /chrono to the end of the URL.

Example: http://transcendence-au.tumblr.com/tagged/triplets/chrono

Dipper being obsessed with teaching Bentley and Torako about earth TV from our time so he shows them to the two in their dreams. On Halloween they all dress up and people are like “what are you supposed to be???” “I’m Black Canary” “Tora that isn’t a thing” “hell yeah it is”

You know how old tv shows and movies from the 1950′s and before are kind of quaint and boring to us now? The ways of storytelling have changed so much, and the technology used to tell them has advanced radically. It would be like that but in far greater magnitude for people in Bentley and Torako’s time, since they live two millennia in the future, not to mention the language barrier.

It would be as if someone from the present day were to dress up as, oh Chaerephon from Aristophanes’ play The Clouds from 423 BCE, after seeing the entire play in its original Greek language and context. In other words, rather unlikely. Maybe at least the costumes would be interesting even if the shows weren’t, but maybe they’d just look hokey and old to the two.

This always throws me for a loop, where does Bentley live? I’ve seen it referred to as an island and many mentions of “going to the mainland” (i.e. in the university story), but I’m still not sure. Any insight?

Mod K here! Bentley was born and grew up on the island of Minte de Daos, which is part of the chain of islands that used to be California until Dipper destroyed California. For Undergrad he goes to a university in the contemporary USA, near its northern border (southern Wisconsin in current-day terms), and then Graduate school is somewhere a little further southeast of that.
I hope this helps!
