Ian’s show has a very popular AU called the Descendance AU. In it, during the final battle with the Bill-like big bad who’s name I can’t remember, Alcor and Stella defeat him, but Alcor’s demonhood gets ripped away in the process and he ends up a child Stella’s age. He ends up becoming kind of like her brother, and their story, although the canon is somewhat loose, extends for thousands of years as they keep being reincarnated close to one another and getting into hijinks.

I’ve been looking around and can’t seem to find it. What exactly is a ‘mark’? (Demons marking/reserving a soul?) How do they do it?

Demonic markings are almost like (impermanent) brands on the soul, and are a way of saying to keep away from the marked entity. Basically, “mess with them and you mess with me”. They don’t stay with a person after death.

Most of the time it’s so the demon can get what they want from the human or other sentient being without interference, but Dipper tends to use them as protection. He usually gives them through kisses on the forehead or cheek and, to beings with the Sight, the marks appear as his symbol.

How other demons might mark people hasn’t been discussed. Maybe they press their hands to where they want it, or claw it into the person, or something else. It’s up to you!

Toby will often find himself drawing a triangle with one eye and a hat, like Alcor’s object form, but not quite. He avoids coloring them gold, since that’s Alcor’s color. Instead, he will often color them blue or green. (I can’t decide which. What makes more sense?)

This is a good idea, but we generally want to avoid r!Bills doing anything too blatantly related to him such as that. Vaguer stuff like him liking the color yellow (which he does!) is fine.

Ian is the only one who can really get away with a few things, because he’s the first reincarnation that did have specific ties with one of Bill’s plans. He would be more likely to do this sort of thing, though after the events of Reincarnation Blues that may have dropped off.

As a note, this extends to physical aspects like being blonde or dressing sharply, or having anything related to eye problems or fixation on their eyes. Physical traits don’t extend to reincarnations (in instances like Toby, the universe does seem to have a cruel sense of humor). Coincidences, personality traits, and perhaps some vague subconscious things are still ok, if applied subtly.

So. Enoby. Yeah, let’s talk about Enoby. I love the idea of a smol, dorky, sadistic little Bill. Give me a list of characteristics so that I can write a lot of crap about them. *squees to self about Enoby*

Mod R is excited!

Enoby (whose real name is Ebony) has a lot of their characteristics described in posts in the Enoby tag. Here they are!

-An absolutely godawful sense of style that makes them look like the unholy mashup of a scene/goth/emo kid 2 decades too late who has a tenuous grasp on any of those fashion trends, which is exactly what they are.

-An unnervingly morbid sense of taste and interests. They will squee excitedly and completely unironically about skin-flaying, the intensity of blood pressure from when you slit a neck, the effects of rot on a corpse, the modus operandi of a mass murderer, and more delightfully disturbing things. This has a tendency to make people around them want to gag a bit, which they remain happily oblivious about.

-A lolrandom humor and communication style straight out of 2005 and your 10 y/o nightmares. Their spelling skills are about as good as that of the writer of a certain Immortal fanfic, though whether the mispellings are because they’re trying to get their racing thoughts down as fast as possible and causing mistakes they don’t care to fix, or they’re purposely spelling bad for ‘aesthetic’ is unclear. In all likelyhood it’s probably both.

-An almost disarmingly oblivious personality–oblivious to implications in the stories they read, how they come off to other people, how other people react to them, and even oblivious to rules of ethics/morality and why those exist. Enoby just is, without any influence from anywhere unless they let it. That the influences they decided to pick from are all obnoxious and outdated doesn’t ruffle them in the slightest.

-A passionate, unerring love for Twin Souls–well, one half of the pair at least, that being Alcor. Mizar they could take or leave. Or kill. You know how it goes. But they love the books soooo much! theyr liket he best things iever and omg alocr is so ehot and rocmatic!!!!!!! Enoby writes terrible fanfic and draws terrible fan art and their url on the fansite they frequent is xxalcorsmexy618xx and it’s awful, it’s just awful. But they love it.

-All in all, Enoby isn’t that sadistic, though perhaps they wish they could be. They’re passionate about what they do and every interest they pick up they go all in on. They’re earnest and blunt, but they’re more knowledgeable than they come across as some most of the time. Sometimes they get little intuitions about things that other people don’t seem to get, like loopholes in contracts and deals (which they will happily exploit without really knowing that’s not what you’re supposed to do). This tends to throw people off who think that there’s nothing behind those bangs of theirs.

Hope this helps! Enjoy writing about Enoby!

So, there’s a slight discrepancy where the Mystery Shack/Library is said to be gone already in Reincarnation Blues, but in Toby and Maddie’s time, it’s still in Gravity Falls, maintained by Jerry. Now, I KNOW the TAU timeline should always be taken with a grain of salt, but I like to imagine that the Shack gets up and goes wandering for a while every so often, and then settles down in Gravity Falls again.

That’s exactly what happens!

The reincarnation aspect of this AU drives me up the wall because the later forms look or act nothing like their true forms.

To address your first point, reincarnations don’t have to look anything like the incarnations that you’re familiar with. A reincarnation can be any race, any gender, any appearance–it’s not tied to anything. This can be seen in the many reincarnations of Mabel–Max is a guy, Mira is Indian, Maddie is often depicted as black, Bentley is mixed race, one of the reincarnations is a cat.

To address your second point, oftentimes the personality traits that a reincarnation shares with the incarnation you’re familiar with are not immediately clear. It’s less like it’s passed down from reincarnation to reincarnation and more like a soul has certain traits, different sets of which manifest in different incarnations of that soul. To quickly use some Bill reincarnations as an example: Ian has a twisted sense of humor. Very subtly, Toby tends to think things are his fault, like the world centers around him. Chrys is knowledgable, quick-witted, and stubborn. Enoby has a random sense of humor and terrible taste in style. Jude has a short temper and a tendency to cheat and cut corners.

They all also have a tendency toward morbidity and desire for power (except for Toby). If you notice, Bill himself has all these traits. They just show up differently in different incarnations.

To address your last wording, there is no “true form” for a reincarnation other than its soul. There were Mizars, preincarnations, before Mabel, there will be reincarnations after. Incarnation-wise, the incarnations you’re familiar with–Mabel, Stan, Soos, Wendy, Bill, etc–are nothing special in the line. Their souls and reincarnations are called r!Gideon or r!Mabel or the like for convenience’ sake.

(To each their own, though! You can certainly just not like something because it’s not your taste.)

Is there like a ‘how to draw Transcendence AU’ page where I can learn to draw ALCOR and stuff. If not can someone PLEASE get onto that?! (I can’t draw)

Everyone draws Alcor and the rest of the people in TAU a different way, and so there is no real definitive how to draw for them. Alcor/Dipper does have certain characteristics that usually stay in interpretations of him, like his sharp teeth, pointy ears, buttwings, suit, hat, etc. But there is no right or wrong way to draw him! However, if people want, Mod R is willing to make a “How to draw Alcor like Mod R does” tutorial. Some other mods have offered as well!

So… I was gonna write another Bill reincarnation fic even though I’m not very good yet, but first, can I post it anywhere? Like, not just tumblr? And second, are there any rules or regulations I need to follow?

You can post it anywhere you’d like! There are no rules or regulations you have to follow, but if it has sexual content or doesn’t fit into the AU for another reason we may not reblog it. You are free to add it to the fic masterlist as well!
