What if dreams never died. Meaning that Dipper’s pretranscedance dreams are still floating around the dreamscape somewhere. Now centuries after Dipper has lost those closest to him, he begins to forget who he was and becomes increasingly isolated. His dreams find him though, and for awhile he becomes content to live in his old dreams until dream Mable, much like real Mabel would, reminds him to not forgot who he was and to live in the real world.  He returns to reality but saves his dreams in a small pin to help him remember who he was.
