If they aren’t for profit and you’re making them just for personal use, most artists won’t mind. If you made them to put on Redbubble or otherwise sell them though, most (if not all) artists will not want you to – and if they don’t okay it, that’s illegal and can get you in a heap of trouble. You could however politely ask if they would consider putting art you like on Redbubble (or a site like it) so you could purchase a t-shirt that way and support them, but just remember to be polite and considerate to their wishes.

As for permission for distributing TAU-related things, I do ask that you not use my art (or anyone’s art) directly (like printing a drawing I did on a t-shirt), but I will let Alcor’s symbol be free for even commercial use to use in derivative works, which means I’d like it if you didn’t just sell the image of Alcor’s star, but you could slap it on an illustration you make yourself and sell that.

I’m also going to say that derivative use of TAU Alcor’s character design would be okay for commercial use, because he’s to some degree, not completely mine. Doesn’t feel right to say I own him entirely. Plus, if it’s something to spread the TAU love and cheer, I wouldn’t mind anyway!

To put it more simply, here are things that would NOT be okay to do:

• Sell a print of someone else’s art you didn’t make yourself (that includes editing someone’s work)
• Sell a print of Alcor’s symbol by itself
• Sell prints consisting of characters you drew, but don’t belong to you (IE drawing Bentley, who belongs to Mod K)
• Print anything that isn’t yours even for personal use, without asking the creator for permission (not really a law, but it’s very much common courtesy and most people are fine with it so long as you ask)

This is what IS okay!:

• Sell a print of artwork you made, consisting of characters that belong to you, even if they were made for the TAU verse
• Sell a print of artwork you made, with characters that aren’t yours, so long as you get permission from the creator of said character
• Make a print for yourself for personal use of any art that isn’t yours, so long as the original artist gives you the okay
• Create and print your own derivative artwork with TAU themes in it (like Alcor’s star symbol) even if you’re going to sell it

Be aware that this all may be subject to change (mostly bc I may have gotten something wrong), and you should always familiarize yourself with copyright law, and how derivative and parody works play into that. c:

Of course that’s alright! Anything that is purely the creation of TAU could be used in non-commercial work (which would include school papers!); and the stuff that’s taken from Gravity Falls… well, that falls into the same category.
