Admin Kin here: This is one of the most helpful references in our library, but I wondered if any of our followers might be able to help identify the color coded muscles? It would be great to be able to know what is what while practicing from these sheets!
Sure, @anatomicalart! The colors get reused between the arm/back angles so I’ll separate them.
Apply to a job, wait (1) day, then call. Give them your first and last name. Tell them you submitted an application and that you’re very motivated to find [Enter field name] work. Let the conversation lead you wherever it takes. Be very polite. Say” thank you for your time, I’ll be looking forward to hearing back from you.” Rinse, repeat. This is to force them to be looking out for your application.
When you get to the interview, shake their hand firmly, tell them your first and last name.
Describe your experiences as “ two years transcription and data entry” if you have a desk job interview and “ [however many years] costumer service, retail and stock” for your retail jobs.
Don’t use job “ buzz words” I stg they hear them all day. Say things like, “ I’m detail oriented and am very good at taking instruction.” “ I would like to work for a company with integrity and I feel that [ company name] would be a good fit”
When they ask you if you have “reliable transportation” say YES. don’t tell them what kind of transportation, just say yes. (if you don’t do this, you wont get the job , I’m telling you right now).
Research the company. Know what they do, why they do it, how OLD the company is. WHERE it was founded, and what kind of position you’re intending to apply for.
When they ask you “ give us a situation where you had to blah blah blah” Make one the fuck up. Make yourself sound good as hell, and like you put your company’s needs slightly above the customer’s needs, but make the customer happy.
If they ask you about being outgoing, Say you “like to focus on your work so you can concentrate on doing things right” (which buys you out of having to act friendly all the time)
Questions for after the interview:
1. Does this position offer upward mobility?
2. Do you enjoy working for the company? (if you’re not interviewing for a temp agency who will send you anywhere)
Then, shake their hand, Ask them to repeat their name (REMEMBER THIS) say thank you for your time, wish them a nice day and leave. write their name down outside if you have to, just remember the fuck out of it.
AFTER your interview, send a card directed to the name of the person who interviewed you (I’ll give you them) that says “Thank you for the interview, I appreciate the opportunity. have a great day” This shows that you have an understanding of professionalism, and will have them thinking of you kindly (or at least remembering you) when they’re shuffling through the choices.
DO NOT tell them you just moved to the city over the phone. In person, tell them you just moved to the city. Make it sound like the only reason you need a job is because you moved. Not because you’re desperate.

I knew this but I’m reblogging cause someone might not know
I’m saving this.
Very informative. Didn’t know you didn’t need a degree for a dental hygienist.
Dear Everybody,
You’re welcome. Confidence is 🔑
Be wary of calling back though. Some jobs do not appreciate that and will place you on a “Do not hire” list, especially if they tell you on the application not to call.
ALL THE HAIR COLOURS/STYLES AND CLOTHING OPTIONS IN POKEMON SUN/MOON
My Pokemon Sun/Moon guidebook came in yesterday, and I was so happy to see that it showed me all these options. Since a friend wanted to see it too, I decided to take photos of the guidebook and post it here for anyone else who is curious!
Some things aren’t available until post-game, and some colours are version exclusive (unless you connect to another version’s dye shop I think? I can’t remember for sure).
Hopefully this helps with finding the perfect outfit and hair for your character!

jahaaa – oh, okay, I see what you mean
ahaaa – I finally understand this thing that’s been bothering me ALL DAY
vafan – what-(the)-devil? (ranges all the way from “yeah, okay, why not” to “this is the most disgusting thing I have ever seen and my eyes will never be clean again” depending on how you stress the syllables)
nämen – no-but (used in pleasant surprise, or as a disguise for a unpleasant surprise) ex: I only speak to you when it’s socially unacceptable to pretend I haven’t seen you bc we have literally nothing in common, “nämen hi!” OR “I got off early from work, and I brought kanelbullar!” “nämen, how nice!”
skitsamma – shit-same ex: I am on the verge of giving up/I have already given up, I don’t give a fuck OR I am pretending I don’t care but I actually do and I will show it just enough to guilt trip you
ba – shortened version for “bara” which means “only”, often used in a similar way as “was like” or “said” ex: and then he ba “I hate macaroni” and I ba “who the fuck hates macaroni?”

All this time. ALL THIS TIME i had no idea SAI had perspective transform capabilities.
What?????????????? Is this?????????? How do ???????
I think they mean the Free Transform selection! If you use that correctly you can mess with the selected objects form a bit better?
oh thank you! i noticed with transform selection that using CTRL gives it different effects, i just didnt know what all what this was and thought there was some funnky feature i never knew about
And they are getting even more strict when it comes to not using invoices for charging for Digital Goods.
Whatever Invoices make you uncomfortable or not, you gotta start using them if you want to keep your PayPal and your money. Changes starting this October 19th.
Honestly I don’t get why so many artists are so overwhelmed by invoices, takes just a few clicks to set up.
And is not only “oh you have to use invoices because PayPal says so” if you don’t use invoices you’re putting yourself at risk of being scammed by an user abusing the buyer’s protection.
Since PayPal ain’t got no idea of what those $50 you received were for, but the buyer is saying they didn’t got anything for the money, PayPal will just side with the buyer.
I’m seriously begging ppl, start using invoices. I’m tired of seeing ppl complain their paypal was banned, or is under investigation, or worse, the $100 they got for a very complicated commission, 3 months later get a refund issue.
just
start
using
invoices
for your own sake.
Here is how you use invoices because I can’t keep playing devil’d advocate, yes I would love to help you get your PayPal restored but just this last month I had to help three persons, and they were MORE than aware of this issues.
Just protect yourself.
Step 1. You login and click here
Step 2. You click create new Invoice. YOU NEVER CLICK REQUEST MONEY, unless you want to risk yourself to get scamer by buyer’s protection exploit and not only lose your money but your paypal account, and any future paypal linked to your irl name.
Step 3 You follow this steps
1. Invoice for amount only
2. Ask your client for their PayPal email and put in that field
3. Add a vague description of what you’re doing, something like “Character Coloured with Background” is good enough, and if you need more than 1 character you can type in “2″ where it says amount, or just say “2 characters”.
Warning: don’t type in “Naruto rawing Sasuke”. That will get you banned.
4. Click send.
Optional steps. Create a template, doesn’t take more than 10 minutes and it will save you a lot of time for future invoices, you can even click on “items” right next to “create invoice” and add a list of services you offer such as “character sketch” “character flats” along with a price, so next time you invoice you just add to the invoice from your list of items and you saved yourself some more time.
More importantly, you protect yourself from buyer’s protection exploit because if PayPal knows you’re doing digital goods, then you will be allowed that you did in fact created a digital good.
Keep PayPal happy, as for right now there are no alternatives to this service, and this is the only source of income for many freelancers.
So a few people told me about this great extension called ‘washboard.’ The site is: https://washboard.ws/ It’s basically xkit for mobile, but it uses your safari or your other browser. It’s pretty smooth and I really love how it works, so I’m sharing for those who can’t access xkit from their mobile device. (xkit does have an app, but it is IOS only and costs money. Featurepoints can help you get it for free though and legally.)
This post is mainly directed at those who have ships they need to blacklist. I really hope you all are benefited from using this!
Step 1. Go to the site Step 2. Press “sign into Tumblr” Step 3. Press allow (If you press allow and it won’t load, restart the app and try again) Step 4. To add words to your blacklist, tap the arrow button in the top right corner and tap “Rules” Step 5. Add any words or ships that may harm you
Get out of the anti tag oh my god
I put it in the anti tags because I wanted people to be able to safely blacklist if they don’t have access to a computer, I haven’t done anything wrong..
listen dude ik man but like,,,wouldn’t this b more helpful for shippers who are sick of ship hate
Plus not many shippers actually tag their shit so
Well yes, it’s definitely helpful to shippers too! I just targeted this towards anti’s because I know that some of them can get anxiety attacks or even panic attacks over this stuff. I just wanted to help.
I’m sorry they aren’t tagging what they should be, but I can’t control them. You’re going to have to ask them to tag yourself and if they don’t, unfollow them. Good luck though!
What the fuck is that person on? A lot of anti-morons ship their hate in the ship-tag. What is a shipper supposed to blacklist there? The ship-tag they actually want to browse in peace?
Well that person has a point. Say you ship I don’t know, klance from Voltron. You can blacklist “anti-klance” and whitelist “klance”
dunno why they gotta be to rude tho. it’s useful for both ends of the discourse, they shouldn’t act like the shippers are the only ones who should have adapt to everyone else. we all need to adapt to each other and compromise and maybe this shit will finally be put to an end (except for the antis and shippers who doesn’t actually believe in their cause and just want to bully ppl)
And here on tumblr we see someone presenting a tool that’s useful as fuck to everyone and people acting like they’re wrong for posting it in certain tags…
someone in an anti tag is going to find this so much more useful tho??? its not an insult holy shit calm down. here’s an insult tho: not surprised someone who actively browses anti tags would have misplaced aggression lmao
NO BUT HOW ABOUT WE GIVE ACTUALLY HELPFUL ADVICE/CRITIQUE WHEN SOMEONE’S FAN ART OF A CHARACTER SEEMS “WHITEWASHED” INSTEAD OF SHITTING ON IT AND TRYING TO MAKE THE ARTIST OUT TO BE AWFUL AND RACIST
BECAUSE THE LATTER DOESN’T HELP THE ARTIST DEVELOP THEIR SKILLS IN BETTER REPRESENTING DARKER-SKINNED CHARACTERS IT JUST MAKES THEM SCARED TO POST THEIR ART AT ALL
I wanna add on to this by saying I am scared to draw POC characters.
There’s no real tutorials on different features, and when I find a reference I’m terrified that I’m going to make them look too stereotypical.
Even trying to do the color work for my dad’s skin (dark Latino) makes me nervous because 1) there’s very little information on how to make the skin tone look like something other than burnt Sienna orange, and 2) at what point does a race study look offensive?
I wanted to make a villain in an old RP dark skinned, but I was afraid that making a Villain dark would be racist.
As someone who draws and paints digitally, I NEED this feed back. I’m not trying to be offensive, and I’m not going to argue with constructive criticism , so please, PLEASE, offer advice to people on drawing PoC because there is a horrible lack of instruction out there.
HELLO FRIENDS! A buddy of mind directed me to this post.
As someone who has lived with this same fear I want you to know that it’s normal for a lot of folks. I actually had this fear before Tumblr. It’s not something that sprung up from the internet only.
Steven Universe is actually the show that opened me up more to different ways of expressing a characters race presentation (I was still a bit timid about it before) and I’m very, very, very grateful for that. It’s also how I ended up drawing this little cutie:
Now, moving along, let me hand ya’ll some tutorials to see if they’ll help you out a bit.
Also mulattafury covers a really, really good aspect of this in this ask here. Remember that you’re drawing a person and people come in a wide, wide variety of forms, colors, shapes and sizes. There is no cookie cutter mold for race. The recent Blackout days are amazing proof of this. Look at the variety! Appreciate how beautiful human beings are!
Want more “real” people instead of celebrities or models to work from? OH MAN DO I HAVE THE TUMBLR BLOG FOR YOU. Now on first loading it as of right now you will see a lot of pale folks. Scroll down though. You’ll see more variety as you go through. See?
Also please remember that darker skinned folks can have lighter eyes! And that not all people that ID as a race that you would normally think of as having darker skin have dark skin. Remember, variety is endless!
There are so, so, so many resources out there! It just takes a bit of digging to find them.
Can I guarantee that you will NEVER be called racist for drawing people that are not white? No. But generally? You’re going to be called out as racist more if you only draw people that are white.
Something interesting to me is that folks that told me that my work could be seen as racist in the past? Were all white people. And I’m not even talking about drawing racial stereotypes. I’m talking about just having a dark skinned character. For some reason, the mere act of drawing someone who was not white seemed to make them think that it was racist. I had a customer give me a blank slate for drawing characters once. One of them was black. They asked me to change it to “avoid the race issue”. Which…isn’t how that works.
Try things. Practice. Draw stuff. And hell, put in a disclaimer, make a note, tell people “I am still learning, if something seems off please tell me! I’ll work to fix it!” If you tell people that you’re trying? They’re generally more than happy to help and will understand that it’s not intentional.
Focus on drawing people, not race. Focus on how this models lip does that thing or how their nose curves just so. Think about how you can simplify and apply it. Generally you’re not going to end up with gross racial caricatures. You know why? Because most gross racial caricatures? Don’t even look like real people. Let’s look at Looney Tunes for a sec:
I showed this to one of my friends who is younger and she said “Is that supposed to be a person?” Racist caricatures really blow shit way horribly out of proportion.
When it comes to the white washing aspect? I have two big suggestions to avoid that.1) COLOR CHECK. If you are drawing someone or you are drawing a character and they are dark skinned? Check multiple image sources for the character to make sure you have the skin tone correct. That’s all you gotta do. Make sure it’s the right color. If you’re working from a real person’s photo I suggest choosing a mid tone from their face to start with. Also keep your reference image handy. 2) If you’re doing a character yourself? Consider how dark you would like this character to be. Have you tried making a darker skinned character? Why not? Try it out and see how it goes. (I’m not saying that you HAVE to make dark skinned characters but consider it in your process. You have a whole box of crayons to color with, why do you keep using the same one?) Also if you make characters treat them like people, not stereotypes.
That’s pretty much all I got on the matter. Remember, if you fuck up sometimes? That’s okay. It’s how you react that defines you. There was a really, really popular artist (shoomlah here on tumblr) who was doing historically accurate Disney princesses awhile back that misrepresented Pocahontas. Folks called her out on it and she acknowledged she made a mistake and she actually redid the piece, getting help from folks in the know to make it more accurate. Here are the original and more accurate versions. She’s stated that this incident made her a more thoughtful artist.
So there you go! Refs, tuts, thoughts, and advice! Enjoy!
Ran this by one of my buddies, captain-naro and he added this:
“I’ve noticed that drawing POC is something that is going against the norm a little bit. And it seems to be less normal to have a POC existing in an art piece than it is to have a POC existing in the world. When there are many.”
“It only becomes a race issue when you portray them in a way that sparks a race issue”
“Honestly what it seems like to me is. Everyone has an ideal look for their character whether it is because they want that character to look the most attractive or whatever and that ideal is usually a white person. Thanks to Tumblr and progression being a thing it is not as bad as it was but it still is there and blatant to me. To most people, white people are the most appealing thing to draw for a protagonist or anything like that whereas a black character would fill the role of a background character or an enemy and pretty much any other race would be some other kind of “exotic” trope or something. But that’s probably going more into story writing and not art.”
Going to share this over here as well because I wrote up a huge advice and resource thing in it and maybe some of my followers here can use it too.
ngl, the toxic environment on tumblr has really made me scared to draw POC characters I really want to draw ;;;; I’m scared to do it wrong in any way… so this is so super helpful, thank you!
