So I was reading some of the fics, and I see “The man(Alcor! If you’re wondering who) is definitely more than a little odd, to say the least – no one who was there is forgetting the crazy events of Toby’s tenth birthday party anytime soon –” What has actually happened on Toby’s tenth b’day party? I tried to find a fic relating to that but ive already at the end of the “Toby” tag, (which stops at 25, by the by.)

The anon from the 10th bday party of toby, how about this one too? :O “(And that wasn’t even getting into Toby’s early panicked attempts to manage his sudden new body odor. Dipper still hadn’t run out of teasing ammunition from the Perfume Incident.)” What is entailed in the perfume incident?

At this point, that is all we have, though if anyone would like to attempt further explanations feel free to consider this Fic Open Season.

Does Toby ever get married? If so, who too? I really want to write a first meeting fanfic for Toby and his (future) spouse. And when he has to break the news that he’s a Bill reincarnate? AAAARRRGGG YES ANOTHER ROUND OF TOBY FEELS FOR EVERYONE!

Toby doesn’t get married and isn’t interested in that kind of relationship. He does adopt a couple kids, but he doesn’t tell them about who he’s a reincarnation of, as there is no reason for it to come up, or for him to tell them at all.

Three questions: 1) Do Pacifica or Robbie have any reincarnations? 2) Is Toby in the Transdimensional Arc or not? 3) WHY ARE ALL THE AU’S OF THIS AU SO FREAKING DEPRESSING?!

1) We have Atlas, an r!Pacifica, and Atlantica enjoyed a very brief vogue, and once upon a time there was a futuristic soldier r!Robbie drabble which Mod O cannot now find, plus this nameless one, and maybe some others we can’t recall…but otherwise we don’t have much for either Pacificia or Robbie as reincarnations, most likely due to minor-character-syndrome among fic writers. We do welcome more fic about these forgotten ones. 🙂

2) Original Transdimensional arc – no, no Toby there. Original Transdim involves Alcor alone intentionally traversing dimensions for the very important reason of thwarting another, more extreme and vicious Bill Cipher’s plans for the universe. He doesn’t dimension hop much otherwise.

The Toby variant you have likely seen started out as a vague suggestion: Toby falling through a mysterious dimensional rift by accident, Alcor initially considering just leaving him wherever he ended up (no more Bill soul!) and then just sighing and following him through because no, no he can’t do that. Freaking kid.

It then snowballed somewhat, leading to the idea that the dimension Toby fell into was essentially that of Transdimensional arc, simply for the enjoyment of Toby as well as Alcor interacting with regular Dipper and Mabel and co. with the added bonus of Bill finding out about a very interesting new soul from another universe – a new soul which (kind of, sort of) is his own.

So in a way, we have two Transdimensional arcs, one of which is sort of a Toby AU arc?

And 3) Honestly, TAU itself has its depressing undercurrents tied directly into its core precept (i.e. Dipper becomes an immortal demon), so it’s not too much of a surprise that its AUs would continue that trend if not worsen it in some way or other. But Daemon AU is pretty much fun with fluffy animals added on (and we even went with the variant where Dipper keeps his Daemon instead of destroying it – you’re welcome!), so there’s that at least!

In the back of your mind, there is something burning

The first death after re-entering the reincarnation cycle, was the quietest. Bill’s soul plotted, schemed, waited for his turn in the moments between life and death. He forgot that it was Ian’s soul now too. When Bill thought of chaos, Ian thought of waking up in the morning, Mira by his side. When Bill thought of how he would once again dominate the universe, Ian thought of his fans, his children, the taste and smell of whatever he loved the most, and it infuriated Bill. Bill and Ian were the same, and at the same time, very, very different. The pattern continued with every birth and death, mixing and tangling until the soul couldn’t tell which was which without effort.

Toby had burn scars, years of self loathing and painful shyness, and in the end had a father, sister, friends and children to come home to. He had his last moments as he died, far too young compared to the last two incarnations.

Chrysanthemum remembered a living stage, two truths and a lie. Her resourcefulness got her roller blades, and many, many things later on in life. Her sister was an actress, and Chrys didn’t mind playing her part.

Pi knew of a sister, and a demon who had once refused a deal. Sister and demon mixed well together, and Pi knew to stay out of the demon’s way. It’s sister and it were what’s left of a ruined cult, but it didn’t matter to them. They had their own lives now, and that was that.

Jude escaped from a place she hated the most. Full of spitfire, she took the hand of a demon and vanished into air. She left behind a crudely drawn summoning circle, and two parents who didn’t deserve her.

A corrupted politician, a girl who died at the hands of a cult. Thousand and thousands of memories drowned Bill, piling up and pulling him under. Love, loss, hate, fear, joy, pain, sorrow all filled the soul, and Bill was alone and had far too much unwanted company. He couldn’t get rid of them though. You can’t escape yourself.

The Egyptians said you could take your most precious things with you to the afterlife. Bill wished memories were less precious once you were dead.

(I hope I got the character memories and how I sorta portrayed them correct. If I didn’t, I sincerely apologize to the original creators, I love you guys and the AU!)

Retail Hell

angryinterrobang:

Once you understood Customer Service it didn’t have to be a terrible job. Linda tried to think of it as a temporary purgatory rather than a forever hell to man the main desk. Even if the sound of screaming children trying on their clothes had started to drill a small hole of headache into the back of her skull. That point of pain would help pay her way through school in this capitalist machine.

Besides, Gravity Falls was a town that knew how to handle problems. Even if that meant, for some reason known only to corporate, playing quaking duck sounds over the pop muzak background noise.

So when the cute boy with one eye came in Linda flashed him her best retail grin and asked: “How may I help you, sir?”

Antlers , Wings and Bill

Now , it’s been established that demonic power leaves some marks on a soul / soul traits , such as  weird shadows and    wings / horns . The question is : what about bill ?

My theory :

Bill is more subtle.  As in :  all birthmarks somehow  form triangles . ( all of my  siblings have    birthmarks  forming triangles , so it’s not that uncommon )  and  instead of   being all seing they just  see really well ( if they don’t lose an eye )  so   they never use glasses .  Also : instead of a shadow his reincarnations have dreams becaus ehe used to be a dream demon . So his shadow falls on their mindscape  .  This doesn’t happen with dippers powers because he is more phisical

Bill’s reincarnations do typically have something a little ‘off’ about them and their aura. Ian’s aura was mentioned as being strange, though it turned into something more normal after that. Toby’s aura has never been mentioned as anything unusual. Chrys does definitely have that off aura, and Jude is mentioned as being obviously a bearer of Bill’s soul, and the discomfiting aura could be an indication of that if we assume it’s a regular thing and the way Alcor comes to recognize that soul.

Unfortunately, birthmarks and eyesight (and the Sight) and actual shadows are all things tied to the physical body that soul happens to inhabit, so it’s pretty much pure chance if these things crop up. The soul itself doesn’t have any influence on pure genetics or external factors like birthmark formation or the way light travels.

If an R!Bill were to have something else extra, a remnant of Bill’s power (big if here), Mod M sees it coming in the form of heightened perception and improved processing speed. A literal interpretation, if you will, of ‘always watching,’ of constantly thinking two steps ahead. As this would all be entirely mental, it would also quite easily disguise itself as being human in origin and nothing seemingly out of the ordinary. R!Bills also have a tendency towards Borrowing (for all you Discworld fans out there) which leads to some great times with Dipper

So… Souls have moments in transition, between lifetimes, right? Well, what the heck does Bill’s act like? Seriously, is it all Bill? Or are Ian and Toby there too? :) thanks a ton!

Bill’s soul is a Greek chorus, and his other selves hang off of him like a shroud.

Because Bill is Bill is Bill but Bill is also Ian and Toby and Chrys and Hoa and Charlotte and Mathangi and Louis and Bathsheba and Juan and a thousand hundred million souls otherwise.

Because Bill has Plans and Plots with capital P’s and maybe this Ian thing didn’t work out but he has a backup plan to his backup plan and yet he remembers putting on clothes, the feel of sun on his/her/xir skin, the weight of a newborn child in his arms and no no n̢͈̥̫o̘͚͉̩͍

Because Ian is there, always watching with one glowing blue eye, the other forever gone and you can’t bullshit a bullshitter Billy boy!

He is one soul fracturing into many many many pieces and its unlike anything he’s ever experienced before and for every scheme Bill tries, his ever increasing chorus of selves weighs him down like leaden chains.

After all, the only thing that could ever defeat him is himself.

About Daemons: if they are only a human characteristic and are tied to souls, how come Ian and Toby have got a daemon if their soul is originally demonic?

Because they are human. Bill was not, but Ian and Toby both are – an important distinction in both RB and various Toby fics!

Soul “origin” wouldn’t matter in any ultimate sense. It goes from lifetime to lifetime; anyone who reincarnates as an animal wouldn’t have a daemon even if they spent a lifetime prior or after as a human. Also, while demon births and deaths are very rare, they can and do sometimes happen, and sometimes those souls once may have been or could become human in some past/future lifetime and thus have daemons. Souls are souls are souls, but there’d be something about (at least initial) human life that separates the daemon bit out at or before birth in this universe, and returns it at death.

So while there does sort of need to be a distinction made via “only humans have daemons” (otherwise in this au pretty much all animals would have their own (presumably also animal somehow?) daemons as well, since at least two incidents of canon reincarnation involve a soul being animal in one lifetime and human in another, indicating that animals do indeed have souls, not to mention all the various preternatural beings from gnomes to dragons…and that could get a little too intense) we don’t really need to categorize individual souls as being inherently and irreversibly “human” or “nonhuman” regardless of current incarnation.

Put simply: born a human = gets a daemon, past/future lives regardless.
