Transdimensional Arc: One of the few things both Alcor and Dipper can agree on is that they both hate Dippy Fresh. Bonus points if Mabel created an “Alcor Fresh” that Alcor can’t stand and Dipper baffled by how even more annoyed he is of this version than the original.
Alcor asks Mabel why “Alcky Alakazam” has a skateboard with batwings on it if he already has wings, and Mabel just looks at him until he slinks off.
(some people don’t understand art, sheesh)
You know in the Transdimensional Arc, Alcor’s teasing and mocking of Dipper ironically makes Dipper think the demon is treating him like a kid, or worse, hates him because he reminds the demon of how much he was a nerd. Alcor would know how it feels to be treated like a kid (which he is unintentionally doing) and that he’s still a nerd and Dipper just reminds how much he has loss.
They go at each other from cross-purposes and there’s a general lack of mutual understanding for so many reasons.
Dipper doesn’t know what it’s like to be made a Demon, to be torn between the instincts that come with it and the lingering empathy for mortals that came from his human self. He’s never outlived almost everything he loves time and again.
Alcor has, perhaps, forgotten what it’s like to be a twelve-year-old human wanting to prove oneself and be accepted – it has been a very, very long time, and even he forgets things. He’s gotten used to the ‘ageless demon’ schtick. Appellations like “kid” come naturally, thoughtlessly to his tongue.
Both of them know they’re smart – maybe even the smartest guys in the room, sometimes. Dipper wants to prove it. Alcor wants to flaunt it. That’s also likely to cause clashes.
The moral of the story: any variant of time travel where an older version of you meets a younger is going to be weird and possibly a lot more antagonistic than you might first expect.
Adding to the new Bill Transdimentional Arc AU fic prompt. This Bill turns out to actually become (somehow) not so much friends, but aquaintences at least to the point where they got along enough to pull pranks on each other and not want to try to kill each other every five nanoseconds.
It’s the weirdest, most nervewracking thing ever. Dipper was more or less used to the whole Bill-reincarnated-as-a-human thing, even if there was the occasional day of doubt when he waited on tenterhooks, wondering if or when the demon might resurface in Toby as he did in Ian. But a nicer alternate dimension Bill?
What the heck?
The worst part about it in many ways is that Bill, unlike Toby, can feasibly follow him anywhere, even into the Mindscape.
I guess the Transdimensional Arc is popular because of the many possibilities that comes with Alcor interacting with familiar characters and the shenanigans that ensues. Not to mention is the interaction between regular Dipper and Alcor, which would open old wounds for the demon along with seeing his friends and loved ones alive again.
Yep, that’s pretty much the lot of it. So many possibilities in so many forms…we just try to limit the number of times Alcor actually breaches dimensional barriers due to established world mechanics, which does lead to the transdimensional arc gaining a number of AUs since the opportunity for those kinds of shenanigans doesn’t come up much along the same timeline.
Fic Prompt: Transdimensional arc au where a Bill (who is thankfully not as sadistic as the others) figures out dimension hopping and gets stuck with Alcor for awhile until he can recharge. Bonus points if its during the time that Alcor is Toby’s guardian.
How many Transdimensional arc AUs do we have now? There’s the original, then there’s the versions where Toby comes along, plus a handful of other transdimensional suggestions here and there…
Ah, what’s one more? As long as it’s an AU of the arc instead of adding more dimension hopping to the standard storyline I think we’re good…
Fic prompt: A transdimensional arc where young Dipper and Mabel of an alternate universe accidentally gets sent to Alcor’s reality and while exploring the world of the transcendence, encounter the infamous demon through a cult summoning and stuff happens.
.
During the Transdimensional Arc, when Dipper asks who Tyrone really is, Alcor replies “I am the future Dipper.”
Which makes Dipper even madder because he’s not fuc-fudging around okay! Dipper is vr srs and even worse in his eyes, it feels like Tyrone is treating him like….
A kid.
In the transdimensional arc and during a close call with a supernatural entity that Alcor saves Dipper from, both get into an incredibly “mature” argument, which consists of the two calling each other idiots. Mabel or anyone with them and the supernatural entity just look on at this argument halting all seriousness and urgency with Mabel barely holding back her laughter since the context on who Alcor really is just makes the exchange between them twice as hilarious.
Alcor the big scary demon who is also a big diaper baby willing to argue with a twelve year old yes good
During the transdimensional au, one of the scams Stan and Alcor pull off together is that Alcor uses his shape shifting abilities to be a “random” tourist or guest among them to make the scam more believable in case there are some who are starting to doubt.
Classic.
