Pacifica, Supernatural Rights Activist (and other thoughts on Paz)

MABEL DRAGGING PACIFICA TO PROTESTS but they’re both famous so they end up on the cover of every. single. magazine.  and they become the face (and in Paz’s case, the funding) of the supernatural rights movement.  Like maybe she’s not really out there that often, but she shows up often enough that the media are hounding her 24/7.  And sure Mabel, you can host this one event at my place, but then it’s not just one, it’s ten, and so on and so forth.

And she was soooo not ready for this, they’d just gotten those other misunderstandings cleared up, now this?  But after a while she just.  Accepts it?  Like Mabel apologizes over and over, and finally Pacifica just says, “Mabel, if I really regretted this, then I would’ve quit the scene, like, forever ago.”  She never lost those speech habits.

Some protestors wanting to get more ‘active’ during a meeting at Pacifica’s place and she just rips them apart, the same way she used to rip apart people’s outfits.  “You think anyone would take you seriously?  Trust me, sweetheart, these things are all about appearance.  That sort of ‘protest’ would guarantee that you stay exactly where you are now;  Mooching off of some person better off than you, talking about justice but not doing a single.  Thing.  Worthwhile.  So if you want to join the grown ups, kid, you better learn how to play nice.”

Maybe some Pro-Natural people (along the lines of the New Canaan Methodist Church or the club from the fic where Acacia sneaks off to a party) get into Paz’s mansion, because her parents refused to up security because, “you’re being ridiculous, Pacifica, there’s no one who would dare cross us, even if you are part of this despicable movement,” (cue fight), and after that Paz starts carrying more than just some pepper spray and protection beads.  She seriously learns to take care of herself, and after a while people start fearing her for more than just her money and influence.  She’ll never be Mabel, up front, loud, and terrifying, but she’s a Northwest, and a Northwest won’t be anyone’s damsel.

No matter how much she despises her parents, she’s got that family pride to uphold.  She cares about them, sort of, but they’re not really a priority.  Pacifica has other things to worry about.  Namely social justice and hanging out with Mabel, and maybe her new college friends.

Pacifica totally double majors in business and fashion.  And maybe, because she lives in Gravity Falls, she takes a few supernatural courses on the side.  She tries Demonology once, just to learn about Mabel’s brother a little more (know your enemy and all that), but holy shit that junk is scary, and honestly, she doesn’t care for it that much.  Eventually she finds she’s way more into public speaking than business, maybe even dabbles in local politics.  Mostly though, she ends up managing the family fortune and invests.  (Although of course she also has many side projects throughout her life, and puts those degrees to use.)

(also maybe eventually Dipdop has to show up to get those darn reporters off Paz’s lawn.  Dangit Dipper now I’ve got more people wanting to know how I’m connected to Alcor, this was not helpful at all.)

TL:DR Mabel drags Paz into some stuff and Paz ends up being an activist.  I just really thing Pacifica deserves some love.  Probs gonna fic this.  JK I already am I just wanted to share my ideas and get some input.

Also I would sooooo be down for that alternate reality game ❤

And while I’m at it, this headcanon gave me an idea that I don’t think I’ll write, but I wanted to share.

Dip annoys Pacifica to the point where she summons him just so she can whale on him. She thinks it’s about Mabel at first, but even when she’s done nothing to Mabel (and this is after she and Mabel actually start to make friends) he just keeps showing up and annoying her and it just escalates until she summons him and beats the crap out of him again. And then he leaves her alone for a couple weeks to a month, but then he starts doing it again. This happens three or four times before she figures it out, and she summons him and he’s braced for impact but instead she says, “I want to make a deal.”

And he’s thinking oh no and she smiles and says, “See, I’ve been paying attention, and I think I’ve figured it out. You like getting the snot kicked out of you every once in a while, don’t you?”

More on Pacifica

I kind of imagine Pacifica being a low key activist. At least in the beginning when this is all new.

like, now that she’s friends with Mable, and the world has been introduced to the supernatural, I have no doubt that there would be some HUGE prejudices against those who are involved (i.e. there would be some snooty pre-transcendence elders looking down on those who get involved and casually and frequently have interactions with supernatural creature -such as the entire Pines family) because they think that it’s not natural, and therefore doesn’t even exist – even though it’s staring them in the face! A mindset that says all of these people are just being ridiculous, there’s no need to change my way of life, blah blah blah (cue ignorance). I would imagine that this might become a trend especially among the older families such as the Northwests. 

But now Pacifica has had first hand experience with this stuff, and so even though she’s not actively seek to get involved in dealing with mystical and supernatural creatures (like Wendy and Mable) she also doesn’t keep quiet about it. Often advocating and possibly offering assistance financially to those who need it for their causes.

She could have conversations with others in these old families, because she still has those connections, but she uses that to try and explain why the prejudices are wrong and unfair, and does interviews for tv specials and is kind of a  laissez faire supporter and endorser of he supernatural community

idk, just I love the idea of activist Pacifica, even if it is’t in any extreme, messy, hands on, down and dirty activism, it’s still there ya know?

Okay so now that I’m done work I kinda wanna continue what I was trying to type out here about Pacifica. If I may?

So starting at the beginning, I was working on her “Fashion” outfit perks yeah? So restating the first two points:

  • Jewelry? Oh that’s just Buddha Rosary beads, and these are crystals with protection charms on them. Add in some pure silver and iron and she’s fairy proof (cause those little suckers really like shiney things I can imagine her stuff going missing constantly)
  • Expanding on that point, her purse would have iron studs on it, same with her belt. Necklaces and bracelets (and earrings) are usually silver, the beads/crystals are usually on her necklaces/earrings.
  • two sets of pepper spray in her purse, one for humans the other mixed in with holy water. Total protection
  • Charmed Sunglasses that when she wears she can see through the glamour of most supernatural creatures as well as see things that others cant (IE: Dipper when he’s not coporeal. think Grunkle Stans Charmed glasses, same concept)
  • Charmed compact mirror, the kind use to check her make up that she keeps in her purse. Yeah, she points that at someone she suspects of being supernatural and she can see through their glamour in the mirror.
  • C’mon, she totally has a nail file on her that’s also been charmed as a weapon against supernatural, custom made by Mabel and/or Candy.
  • worst case scenario, she carries a hidden blade (totally in her boots cause why the frickle not!) that she bought from Candy

Basically, yeah, she’s prepared in case supernatural shit goes down, even if she tries to stay away from it but living in Gravity Falls, thats kind of hard. She’s not as kickass as Mabel or Wendy or Candy, but she definitely can hold her own until help comes. Most of her stuff is literally used for repelents rather than protection (hence the iron and pure silver)

ALL OF THIS IS JUST MY PERSONAL HEADCANONS FEEL FREE TO CHANGE ANYTHING THAT DOESN’T WORK???

I just….really have a lot of feels for Pacifica right now for this AU and I have no clue why!

Pre work doodle: Pacifica Northwest, Transcendence AU

We need more Pacifica in this AU, I mean, there’s so many cool possibilities with her! I mean it’s already been determined she and Mabel are more friends now than enemies right?? Well just…bare with me a minute here!

Pacifica stays as much away from the supernatural as she can, despite being good friends with Mabel who’s brother is a demon. Being rich however there can be lots of opportunities where Supernatural creatures get involved in her day to day life. Say at parties and stuff, rich auctioning off rare creatures and things, sirens and/or Selkies (amoung other creatures part of me was thinking of Succubi cause cmon those are awesome and we are talking about rich people here) being companions to some of the other rich people at parties. Point is she’d deal with them despite not wanting to.

But she looks good while doing it.
