what’s the timeline like for dipper in regards to toby and ian?? bc if toby came first it would make sense for dipper to be more willing to trust ian (even though he doesn’t), but if ian came first he probably shouldn’t be as worried about toby going all dark-side on him… or am I just overthinking things??

Ian came before Toby, and was in fact the very first reincarnation of Bill since the Transcendence. He was a decent enough guy, but he wasn’t perfect – so Dipper was sure it was a fluke, that Bill’s soul was usually just as corrupt and terrible as you’d expect it to be.

So when Toby came along, Dipper thought that this would finally be his chance to prove it. Of course, you can imagine his frustration upon realizing Toby was even more of a sweetheart than Ian.

Despite having a fairly good track record, there were still times with Ian where his past life resurfaced a bit (such as calling R!Mabel “Shooting Star”), so even though Toby continued to be a precious little angel, Dipper had good reason to continue being wary of him.

(For the record, Bill never really manifests on Toby in any significant way; he’s sometimes plagued by nightmares that are really visions of his past lives, but that’s about the extent of it.)

The Universe Hates Toby (and Alcor by extension) Part 4

siri-catriona:

And here’s the finale! First bit of fanfic that I’ve actually consciously completed in a long while… and i’ts about demons… yay?

“Dad!”

Dipper
jumped out of the mindscape, legs flinching hard enough to thump
against his work desk as he regained ‘consciousness’. He almost got
out a swear in demon-speak before cutting himself off in English.
“Fuck- yeah?”

Toby
was silent.

Tyrone
cast a glance toward the door. Should
I be worried, or…
?

“I
– I need help!”

but imagine: young!Toby snuggling a star-shaped Alcor after waking up from a bad nightmare, and getting lulled back to sleep by the soft glow (and Dipper is totally not doing this because the kid looked scared or anything; he’s just making sure no unhealthy sleeping habits arise that make the monster inside the kid come out). Alcor hovering around Toby in his object form while the kid sleeps (just to keep an eye on him, really, it’s not like he cares) and waving away the forming nightmares.

Toby babysitting six year old Maddie while Alcor’s at a parent-teacher conference, and some adorable shenanigans.

“I’ll be back in an hour.”

“I know, Al.”

“You need to make dinner.”

“Alcor—”

“She can’t sleep without her stuffed pig.”

“Alcor!” Toby flinched immediately after he raised his voice. “Sorry. But, I know. I’ve watched Maddie a hundred times. You can go to conferences.”
